Claims
People claiming asylum in the UK, at port or after entry, in each year ending June. People are main applicants plus their dependants; the count of people starts when dependants were first recorded. The decisions made in a year do not relate to that year's claims.

The queue
Claims awaiting an initial decision at the end of each quarter, UK. Appeals and further reviews are left out throughout. People include dependants; cases are main applicants. Waiting time is counted from the date of the claim.

Grant rate
Initial decisions on main applicants (cases), not people, UK. The grant rate is grants of protection or other leave as a share of grants and refusals; withdrawals and administrative outcomes are left out. Years with fewer than 100 grants and refusals are not shown. Appeals can change outcomes and are not shown.

By nationality
The ten most common nationalities by number of people claiming asylum in the latest year ending June, ordered by claims, as published by the Home Office ("Other and unknown" left out). Grant rates are on initial decisions on main applicants in the same year, not necessarily the same people; a rate is shown only where there were at least 50 grants and refusals.
